Wintty refund policy

The short version

If you want your money back, write to [email protected] and tell us the account you paid with. A person reads every message and answers. GitHub Sponsors, our payment rail, cannot refund a payment itself, so when a refund is due we send it to you by another route we agree with you, at no cost to you.

Changing your mind: 14 days

If you are an individual in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you can cancel a purchase within 14 days of the day you paid, for any reason or none. Send one line to [email protected] saying you cancel, and we will end the entitlement and refund everything you paid, with no fee and no deduction for the days you used it. Downloading, installing or using Wintty in those 14 days does not take this away. Consumers in the UK and EU have this as a statutory right for distance purchases too; where your statutory rights go further than this page, they apply. A monthly sponsorship also stops renewing when you cancel it on GitHub itself; that stops future payments, and this page is about money you have already paid.

If Wintty is not working for you

A fault is a different matter from changing your mind, and it is not limited to 14 days. If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, the law says software must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose, and if it is not, you are entitled to a remedy: we fix it, or the price comes down, or you get your money back. Tell us what is wrong at [email protected]. Support will usually solve the problem with you first, because many reports turn out to be configuration or driver issues; if the fault is ours and we cannot fix it, you get the remedy the law entitles you to, whenever you bought.

How the money comes back

We handle refunds ourselves, by hand, one at a time. For a cancellation under the 14-day policy we send the refund within 14 days of your request. For everything else we tell you in our reply what we will do and when. Refunds go by a payment route we agree with you, for example a bank transfer; any cost of sending the money is ours, not yours.

What happens to the licence

When a purchase is refunded, the entitlement ends and updates stop, and the paid edition must no longer be used. Your own files on your machine stay where they are, and the open-source edition keeps working forever under its own licences.

Enterprise licences are sold under their own order form, and refunds for them follow that agreement rather than this page. Talk to us at [email protected] and we will sort it out.

Beyond the rules

The licence names goodwill refunds as a real category: if your situation is not covered above, ask anyway. A person handles each request case by case. If we say no to a goodwill request, that refusal does not touch any statutory right you have.
