Wintty 1.0.0-rc.5 release notes
Every edition gets the channel-switch crash fix and a pill that can no longer draw doubled; Pro and Pro Legacy get tabs and panes back exactly as left.
Highlights
- All editions: switching the update channel in the update popover no longer crashes the app. The crash could happen while the popover closed on its own as you chose, or while the channel list redrew, and it took the whole app down. Switching channels is also the route out of a channel that stops serving updates, so the crash sat exactly on the escape path.
- Pro and Pro Legacy: the agent overview and agent monitor commands, and the agent marks on tabs, are out of this build while the integration underneath them is rebuilt. They return in a future update.
- Pro and Pro Legacy: reopening the app brings your tabs and panes back exactly as you left them. Each saved pane now remembers the exact session it was driving, so reopening rejoins that session instead of whichever matching session was touched last, which could bring tabs back showing each other's contents. The first reopen after this update still matches the old way once; after that, every pane stays with its own session.
Fixes
- All editions: checking for updates twice in quick succession no longer reports that the check was throttled. The app restates the previous result straight away, and the next check after a short window is a real one.
- All editions: signing in no longer leaves a stale update error showing. The first check after a fresh sign-in used to give up before it ran, leaving the update error pill up until you pressed retry; the app now rechecks on its own as soon as sign-in completes.
- All editions: the title bar's update pill now lives in one place that is on screen in both tab layouts, and it can no longer draw doubled. The pill used to be moved between two title rows on every layout switch; that move was the one moment two pill renders could appear stacked on each other, reading as doubled text after an update error. The two per-layout slots are gone: the pill sits in a single fixed spot, and if several pill states ever coexist they collapse into one summary pill that opens a list.
Known issues
Warning
- To take an update, use the update popover inside the app; the buttons on the update toasts do not act yet.
- If the update fails, install this version from the download page.
- The Start menu's All apps entry can show a small, upscaled icon; the Desktop and Start menu shortcuts carry the proper icon.
- Pro and Pro Legacy: bringing a left-behind session daemon up to date is offered when the app notices it. Sessions with nothing running in them are handled on their own.
